Our equine wellness programs are designed to provide you with the confidence that your horse is receiving the highest-quality preventive health care as well as a foundation for a long, healthy life. We recommend bi-annual preventive care appointments in the Spring and Fall, which include a physical examination, vaccinations, a Coggins test, a fecal test and dentistry. We view annual examinations as an opportunity to establish a baseline for your horse’s health as well as to detect problems before they become serious and expensive to treat.
Our equine wellness check-up includes:
- General physical exam
- Evaluation of your horse’s body condition and nutrition and feeding recommendations
- Consultation of your horse’s exercise habits and regular activities
- Review of your equine parasite prevention program and updates on the latest standards of care
We also encourage a fecal egg count two times yearly on our clients’ horses. By targeting only those horses that need to be de-wormed, we can reduce de-worming frequency, thereby reducing parasite resistance.
Your horse’s annual examination is also a chance for you to ask any questions and discuss any concerns. You play an essential role in your horse’s health and well-being, and it is our goal to provide all the information you need to be the best caregiver possible.
